I recently had the pleasure of sitting down with one of RCA’s newest signees Kid Ink during his latest stop in Toronto. We conversed about the one song that made him fall in love with hip hop and also his favourite instrumental of all time that made him start out producing. We then went in a different direction and talked about what video game he left in his PS3 at the hotel before talking about his love for movies. He revealed that he would like Tristan Wilds to act out his life if Hollywood made a movie on his life and also discussed his ideas for a possible reality show. Ink was also apart of a recent campaign for PETA called “Ink Not Mink” and spoke on the importance of the topic. We also touched on his tattoos but unfortunately he has never been tatted by Kat Von D. Being in the studio with Pharrell recently, I asked him if he regrets any of his ink-work and would ever consider getting test-tube skin to cover anything up in the future…that was a no go. Expect new music from Kid Ink this summer as he plans to revisit some old music with fresh new features just as he did with “Bad Ass.” Be on the lookout for his major label debut project “Almost Home” dropping May 28th.
My name is Rahiem Supreme,Washington DC native. And the purpose why i did this song/visual was to project to the people out there whats really going on. To open there third eye to see how the system corrupts are minds with lies and confusion. I feel as tho the government treats us like lab rats,it’s like we are put here purposely to struggle.
I came up in the hood and i start seeing how organized these obstacles are. Liquor stores on every corner, Nonstop crime where we lay our heads with rape,drug dealing,prostitution,kidnapping and so forth. Limited education in public schools with some incorrect information,but im not gonna get into that right now lol. But in more wealthy areas theres totally the opposite scenario going on!? If your put somewhere within the culture your raised around its embedded in your brain to adapt or even get brainwashed with the surroundings. It’s like the system is designed to corrupt the mind. And every person that seems to surpass there intellect and start to enlighten there people gets assassinated or looked down upon. So therefore i felt the need to express my thoughts and feelings on this song. So tune into the “Eyes Wide Shut” film and enjoy. I want to drop it tomorrow morning/afternoon –
