This track’s called NeverNot, and was something I started writing years ago. Back in the day, me and my boys used to drive around listening to Xzibit’s Paparazzi non stop, and I loved the beat and knew one day I had to rhyme over it. I had the first 16 written from like, 10 years ago, and the next 2 verses and the hook just popped into my head all at once and I finished the song in just a couple of days at a friend’s studio. The studio’s soundproofing was a bedspring mattress that covered the entrance to a walk in closet, wasn’t no a/c, and there was a pitbull walking around that belonged to who knows. This joint’s important to me because a lot of the lyrics have a deeper meaning, and hopefully everyone can get a different experience when listening to it. The friends I spoke of, the ones that were with me back in ’96, ’97… haven’t heard from ’em in years. One did a 6 year bid, then changed his shit up, and the other I just don’t hear from any more ever since he graduated college. To be fair, I’m a recluse too, but that’s just me. NeverNot reminds me of the good old days, driving up and down I-95 in my ’95 Galant, and crashing parties at FAU in Florida when it was possible to book DJ Khaled for a campus party. Hope ya like. – Vohn Doe
